Today’s post is a video from Surgery 101, a podcast by Jonathan White (@canadiansurgeon)

It’s been a little over a year since CanMEDS 2015 was launched. For more details on all things CanMEDS, check out the original source here . CanMEDS is a framework that identifies and describes the abilities physicians require to effectively meet the health care needs of the people they serve. These abilities are grouped thematically under seven roles. A competent physician seamlessly integrates the competencies of all seven CanMEDS Roles. The original name was Canadian Medical Education Directives for Specialists, but it is now adopted simply as CanMEDS. The framework is in use in more than 40 jurisdictions worldwide. But, it is not without controversy. See here (PMID 21286808), here (PMID 21850502) and here (PMID 22105306) for a small part of the debate.

As one of the co-editors of CanMEDS, IMO this is the best, most succinct, most LEGO-y explanation of CanMEDS. With apologies to the Batman movie, check it out!

So, what do you think?
