If you are a subscriber to the ICE blog, you are likely familiar with many of the virtual resources available for health professions educators.

One of the greatest challenges that I find confronting our community is the endless duplication (without wider recognition) of education innovations.  (See previous rants!)

One of the resources that I find particularly helpful is MedEdPORTAL. operated by the Association of American Medical Colleges in partnership with the American Dental Education Association.

MedEdPORTAL is a searchable repository of online health education materials that are PEER REVIEWED! And wait for it…all the materials are free.  Resources include, lectures, workshops, simulation cases, assessment tools etc.

If you are looking for a venue to share your education innovation and want to receive recognition for your scholarship, publishing on MedEdPortal might be an option. As with other scholarly publications, the PORTAL maintains an Editor and employs a rigorous external peer review process that mirrors established journals.

An alternative to MEdEdPORTAL is the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada’s “What Works” Portal. While the inventory is decidedly smaller, educators looking for free, peer-reviewed resources on how to teach and assess the CanMEDS Roles can find them there.

Both of these sites should be tagged in your Favorites list.
