#ICEicle: Online and Blended Curriculum for Orthodontists

POSTED BY:

I am an orthodontic educator whose main interest is online and blended education. We have started a blended program in collaboration with HVO (www.hvo.org) and Ho Chi Minh City University to better educate dentists in the field of orthodontics.

The program is based on a blended learning type concept. We offer lectures, webinars, quizzes and interactive case submissions and discussions of patient in an online environment. We complement the online training of dentists with onsite sessions of labs , case presentations and monitoring.

This concept replaces the volunteer clinician visits where a lot of advice was given but where an organized curriculum was absent. It resulted in fragmented learning and an absence of standardization of the educational process. The clinicians’ contributions are now incorporated into the curriculum where they abide to the course content and sequence.

If anyone is interested in looking at the concept, it is posted on http://www.discoverortho.com.  The curriculum is actually posted on the McGill LMS system, thanks to their generosity.
